Imagine watching a football game on television. Now imagine the football field is your television. The Podium tower in Dubai will feature the world’s largest LED screen, a 100-meter monster that will virtually cover the façade of the 35-story structure.

The Podium tower will be located in the Majan area of Dubai. Its developer, Tameer Holding Investment, projects a 2011 completion for the structure that will house 33 floors of office space atop two levels of retail and restaurant space. According to GulfNews.com, the LED screen is being produced by US firm Daktronics, whose recent projects include the Grand Lisboa Hotel in Macau and the Argosy Casino in Missouri.

The LED screen itself will be constructed of a highly reflective, blue-tinted glass mounted on a curved aluminum frame. GulfNews states that the screen will not interfere with the light transmission into the building, so the offices on the front of the building will still enjoy full exterior views. Media displayed on the huge LED screen will be visible nearly a mile away.

Aside from the innovation of the media screen, an important aspect of the Podium tower is the overall efficiency of the structure. Despite the massive scale of the project, the Podium building will still have a LEED Silver certification.
